Active Directory Update - Allow users to update their own Active Directory information

Directory Update Features (Continued)

Integrated Windows Authentication or Forms Based Authentication

By default, when the user connects to the Directory Update site (e.g. http://intranet/DirectoryUpdate) we present them with a logon form. The Windows domain name shows up in this logon form, but you can hide it if the DNS portion of the name is different than the NetBIOS domain name (or if you just don't need to see it!)

You can enable Integrated Windows Authentication (in the web.config file) if your users use Internet Explorer and use computers that are members of your Active Directory.

Read Only Fields

In some situations, the administrator may want a user to see some of their attributes but not change them. In the below example, the Employee ID field is text box and the user can enter data. However, the Employee Type field is set to read only.

Logo and Colors

The logo and form colors can easily be changed to make Directory Update fit more easily in to your Intranet.

 Help And Logoff

In the upper right hand corner of the user interface are Help and a Logoff buttons.

If using Forms Based Authentication, then the Logoff button will log the user off and can redirect them to a customizable URL. If using Integrated Windows Authentication, the user can be redirected to an alternate URL.

The Help button displays a small pop-up window in which you can customize the contents. If you have additional content that needs to be in this pop-up window, you can customize the actual Help.aspx file instead.

The interface also has an on-screen help note that is also customizable.
